Scientists found out how much people possessed by sex

Hypersexuality is considered to be a personal feature, but not a mental disorder. It occurs with healthy people and refers to the features of the temperament and emotional sphere. And the status of sexual obsession was not defined by the scientists.

According to the investigations hypersexuality or impossibility to control sexual desire appears in 10% of the population. Women suffer from it much more rarely than men. The status is characteristic for sexual minorities and is also revealed at racial discrimination. In spite of various reasons for its appearance, sexual obsession appears in the same way: it totally substitutes everyday life, expels other emotions and feelings.

 Sexual obsession is a catalyst of criminal delinquency. Sexual violence is only the one of numerous manifestations. The disorder is investigated in psychiatry but still doesn’t have the status of a disease. The absence of the classification according to the International Classification of Diseases doesn’t prevent from opening tens centers for rehabilitation of sexually obsessed. Now doctors use the term “alternative sexual behavior” to name the phenomenon.
